Privacy Policy
Who we are and scope
This Privacy Policy explains how ProtoLayer ("ProtoLayer," "we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use ProtoLayer.app, our documentation, and any front-end interfaces that interact with the ProtoLayer protocol on public blockchains (collectively, the "Services").
ProtoLayer is a non-custodial, decentralized technology that runs on public networks (currently Ethereum). We do not maintain user accounts and we do not custody assets or private keys.
This Policy applies worldwide to individuals and businesses and should be read together with our Terms of Service.
Summary
We do not collect personal information from users through the Interface.
Blockchain activity is public and immutable. On-chain data (including wallet addresses and transactions) is not controlled by ProtoLayer.
Limited technical data may be processed by your wallet provider, node/RPC providers, hosting, DNS, or other third parties you choose to use. Their privacy practices apply to their services.
We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising.
Information we do not collect
No accounts: We do not create or manage user accounts.
No identity data: We do not request or store names, email addresses, phone numbers, government IDs, or similar identifiers.
No behavioral tracking: We do not run behavior-based advertising or tracking across sites.
No KYC: We do not conduct KYC or collect identity documents.
Information that may be processed when you use the Services
On-chain data (public): When you use Ethereum or other supported networks, your wallet address, transactions, balances, and other on-chain activity are public and permanently recorded by the blockchain. Anyone can view this data. We do not control, alter, or delete on-chain data.
Local preferences: The Interface may store minimal preferences on your device (for example, UI theme or last-used network) using local storage or similar. You can delete this from your browser/app settings at any time.
Voluntary communications: If you contact us via the official channels listed on ProtoLayer.app, we will receive the information you choose to provide (for example, your message and any contact handle). We use it only to respond and support you.
Third-party services and data they may process
When you interact with the Services, certain third parties you choose to use may process data under their own terms and privacy policies. These may include:
Wallet providers (for example, browser or hardware wallets): May process your IP address, device details, and wallet address to facilitate transactions and signatures.
RPC/node providers, indexers, or explorers: May process your IP address, wallet address, and transaction requests to route and fulfill network calls.
Hosting, CDN, DNS, DDoS protection, or domain providers: May process network-level data (for example, IP address and user agent) to deliver the site and provide security.
Linked third-party sites or integrations: If you follow links or use integrated tools, their terms and privacy policies apply.
ProtoLayer does not control these third parties. Review their privacy documentation before use.
Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use advertising cookies.
We may use strictly necessary technologies to operate the site (for example, to remember basic settings or protect against abuse). These can typically be cleared in your browser/app settings.
If we introduce additional cookies or analytics, we will update this Policy and, where required, provide notice or obtain consent.
Payments and on-chain interactions
Payments and protocol interactions occur on-chain and are processed by the blockchain network, not by ProtoLayer. On-chain transactions are public and generally irreversible.
If you receive on-chain rewards (for example, as a Co-Chain owner), those distributions occur by smart contract logic and are publicly visible on-chain.
Children’s privacy
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us via the official channels on ProtoLayer.app so we can address it.
Data security
ProtoLayer is non-custodial and does not access your private keys or seed phrase. You control your wallet and devices.
We take reasonable measures to protect the Interface and communications channels, but no internet service or blockchain interaction is 100% secure. Use the Services at your own risk and practice strong key and device security.
Data retention
We do not keep user profiles or databases of personal information.
Any preference data stored by the Interface remains on your device until you delete it.
Communications you send to us may be retained as needed to respond and maintain records, and then deleted or minimized consistent with our practices and applicable law.
On-chain data is permanent and cannot be altered or erased by ProtoLayer.
International use and transfers
The Services are available worldwide. Third-party providers involved in routing or securing your requests may process data in various countries. Where we rely on such providers, we select reputable vendors and seek to minimize data handled by ProtoLayer.
Your choices and rightsBecause we do not maintain user accounts or collect personal information through the Interface, there is generally nothing for us to access, correct, or delete.
You can clear local storage/cookies in your browser or app.
You can switch or disconnect your wallet at any time.
You can interact directly with the blockchain without our Interface.
For on-chain data, deletion or modification is not possible.
If you have questions or wish to exercise rights under applicable laws (for example, CCPA/CPRA or GDPR) with respect to information you have provided directly to us in communications, contact us via the official channels on ProtoLayer.app. We will respond as required by law.
U.S. state privacy disclosures (including California)
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted by law.
Because we do not collect personal information from the Interface, the rights to access, delete, or correct data typically do not apply. If you have provided information directly to us (for example, in a support request), you can submit requests via the official channels on ProtoLayer.app. We will verify and respond as required by law.
Do Not Track
We do not use targeted advertising or cross-site tracking. Industry standards for responding to DNT signals are not uniform, but because we do not engage in such tracking, there is no action for us to take.
Third-party links
Our site and documentation may link to third-party websites or interfaces. Their privacy policies govern their handling of data. We are not responsible for their practices.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post updates on ProtoLayer.app and, where appropriate, provide notice through official channels referenced on ProtoLayer.app.
Changes take effect when posted unless a later effective date is stated. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
Contact
Questions or requests about this Privacy Policy can be submitted via the official channels provided within ProtoLayer.app.
Legal notes and alignment with our Terms
This Privacy Policy is governed by U.S. law. Dispute resolution, governing law, and venue follow the Terms of Service.
If there is any conflict between this Policy and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service control.
